Here is a link I have posted previously on this coin. http://goccf.com/t/349438
I have since been soaking it in non-virgin olive oil to help clean up the corrosion. It is coming along nicely I think.

Close call between AU-50 details and AU-53 details (environmental damage).

It looks like the area between the neck and chin is raised. If so, this may be an example of die subsidence. The radial die cracks are impressive.

Thanks for sharing this coin with us!

Thank you for the information fortcollins. Interesting anomaly. So many things I have learned these past months.

The die cracks and coin quality are the reasons I was so attracted to it.

Look at those trees! This is one of the few issues where a reverse is usually the first thing I look at for grading. Excellent detail! Easily AU. Trace red obvious. I'd wait on any environmental damage assessment until it was in hand. Sometimes photos can mislead.

I'm with you there Tamarin. Leaf definition and bark detail are the first two things I look at. I have been keeping my eye on these for some months now. Seems as though true au and above are pretty rare.
