finally found a set of 2005 un circulated coins, The set includes the 2005 "p" penny, and the penny is non magnetic..I don't collect pennies so I would assume I will have to have it graded,to sell it, so someone doesn't say item not as described, and send me back a regular set.. so my questions are..
is ICCS best for grading this coin, does anyone have a population report on this coin, and a fair value for the coin at the moment, Thanks in advance..

That's normal .. it's copper plated zinc. The only "p" coin that is a variety is the 2006.

That's incorrect information, 2005 coins with the P mark, are supposed to be plated steel, but mine isn't , mine is non magnetic..

ICCS should suffice, it only seems Canadian collectors are the main interest in these types of wrong planchet, maybe a couple grand on a good day.

Silverwolf ... You are right and I was wrong. I was looking at the wrong page in my Charlton reference (an older one). According to my 2013 edition, only "2" 2005 non-magnetic "P" coins have been cert'd. I would call ICCS to see if they will actually cert a 2005P .... I know that CCCS would, since they cert many more variety-type coins.

ICCS will certify all the magnetic/non-magnetic coins. Since that population report, a lot of these have come out of the woodwork. One just sold at the RCNA auction for $714 including premium. Lot 538B.

Far cry from when the first one sold... I think even more will eventually see the light of day, and prices should stabilize around $500 - $600. There is not a huge demand for these...

o.k. so mine just came back from ICCS, and graded at ms-67.. does anyone have a population report, for this coin. I am interested to see where it ranks, and how many of them there are graded similar or higher...i see 2 listed one ebay, a ms-65 for 2215$, and a ms-66 for 2772$, and Canadian coin and currency has a ms-66 listed for 2995$. Also wondering what a fair starting point, for price this coin would command, thanks for any insight..

Its unfortunate that you didn't have this two or three years ago when the first two at auction sold for $21,000 and I believe $18,000.
