*** Edited by Staff to Add Year / Mintmark / Denomination to Title. Titles are Important! ***

A little more confident with this one than the 46 D/D Nickel, ....but I've been too confident before

I think it has the corresponding die marks. Bottom right corner of the memorial and last column.

Nope. That is the common damaged mintmark punch damage from that year. You can find it on several of the denominations that year.

The RPM is on the upper part of the MM area. Not the lower corner.

I agree that this is just a damaged mintmark punch. Most 1979-D coins have the split lower serif. What makes 1MM-003 a true RPM is the split upper serif.

Whew, this is tricky business! I'm guessing, so please correct me, the die cracks could match up because they are common areas for cracks? or?

Yes those are common spots. Just because there is a die crack there, doesn't mean it's a match. Match the repunching or doubling, then mintmark placement, then die markers.

Please take a picture with light from the top angle of the coin so we can see the top part of the D
