I'm helping a friend identify his 'unknowns'. This is 14-16mm. diameter, 0.9gm. Bronze. Looks like something I've seen in the last 6 months on one of the forums or for sale. It struck me it was from Judea or someplace nearby, but only an impression. (2 puns in 1 sentence!) My specialties are Late Roman, early Byzantine and the occasional Greek coin, so this not my bailiwick.

Def not (Christian) "Holy Land" Or Judea. I see traces of Islamic writing on the other side. This flower motive (there's probably a name for it) is frequently seen on islamic coins such as: https://www.zeno.ru/showphoto.php?photo=81600 (not exactly the same, but you might see the similarities).

@pilegicvs, that is an interesting piece. I agree most likely not Judaica, but rather perhaps from the Ayyubid Sultanate. Those guys used a variety of manadalas on their coins, including six-pointed stars. However, I don't see a great match for your piece on either numista or zeno.

Hopefully someone else with more knowledge can weigh in.

I did a few searches on the "dot" pattern and "star" and didn't turn up anything. I also thought there was a possibility of it being Islamic... The pattern is just so distinctive that I thought I'd seen it very recently. I even checked a few less-common (coin I.D.) websites I'd bookmarked in the last year, and no "joy".
