Hi all, I have just tried my hand at cleaning my first very encrusted ring.
I feel that it has come out really well, especially considering how it came out of the ground!!
I have a couple of questions if you are able to help me out?
1. Is it bronze?
2. Is it Roman?
3. How can I learn to differentiate between different periods in history?
Many thanks

@FD, can you please add a pic showing the flat front of the ring? Also, are there any identifying marks on the inside surface?

I can't see any Marks on it,but the inside is uncleaned still at the moment. I'll attach some pics for you. I also have another that I am part way cleaning that has a lovely pattern starting to show on the bezel.
