I found this 1998 p dime with what looks like a strike error. There's a double image around his head in front and back of head. Also see another mint mark around the neck area. Please let me know what your thoughts are on this as I haven't been able to find any info on it. Thanks.

This is a normal coin. What you are seeing is a coin stamped with a senior die. The die is in the VLDS die state when your coin was struck. So the wrinkles you are seeing is on the die. Probably the last 200K dimes struck with the dies will look like your coin.

This is out of my comfort zone right now, but if Coop says it's a Very Late Die Stage, I agree with him!

Cheers

You are certainly more experienced with this than I am but I'm not sure I agree. I'm going to post another photo because I can clearly see the outline of his face etc and not wrinkles as you called them. Will you look again and tell me I'm crazy. Lol. Also didn't get your opinion on the extra mint mark. Thanks for your input. Very much appreciated.

All signs point to heavy Die Deterioration.

As the die breaks down, the metal of the die starts moving towards the edge of the die. That is what you see. Some call it a halo. Often seen more on JFK half dollars.

This coin shows very late Die Deterioration, as stated. I don't see an extra mint mark in your pictures. Are you saying the MM is doubled, or that there is another MM near it?
