Hello fellow numismatists.

I wanted to introduce myself to the community. *** Personal information removed for your protection *** I got into the hobby of coin collecting around 3 years ago, whenever I spotted an intriguing coin on the ground. The intricate design of the coin sparked an interest in coins that I hadn't experienced before. Once I got back home, I did some research and found out that this coin was a 1945 Mercury dime. Ever since then, I have continued to grow my collection.

It started with coin roll hunting. I searched through rolls of pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters in search of cool finds. Some of the best coins I found coin roll hunting include:
1956 silver quarter
1920 Buffalo nickel
1909 Wheat penny
1912 d Wheat penny
1894 Indian Head cent

As I've gotten a little bit older, I am now trying to expand my collection. Since I'm on a budget, I tend to go for lower grade coins, with a few higher grade coins sprinkled in. Some of the best coins in my collection include:

1914 d Buffalo nickel
1897 s Barber half dollar
1893 s Barber half dollar
1820 capped bust dime
1795 plain edge large cent

In the future, there are a few coin collecting goals that I want to pursue. First of all, I want to assemble a full set of either capped bust dimes, quarters or halves. Which one, I'm not sure yet. For me personally, the bust design is my favorite of any coin. Additionally, I want to learn more about error and variety coins. Finally, I want to determine how to grade coins accurately. Specifically, I want to learn how to detect if a coin is cleaned, tooled, whizzed or damaged in some other way.

I hope that joining this forum will help me grow as a coin collector. Thank you all for contributing on this forum and have a wonderful day!

We look forward to your participation.

You did a GREAT job with your introduction. If you are that specific with questions you may pose, we should all learn a good deal.

Thrilled to have another member added to the forum. Hope that you'll share your finds as well as a photo now and then. On the last paragraph, I would suggest a few good books for reference. A priority would be one that covers photograding. Photo-Grade and Making the Grade are two examples using clear photos of each grade with clear text descriptions. Since you like Capped Bust coinage, a book or two which specializes on these would also aid in assembling a very nice set.
