I'm glad that my instincts were correct that this was sintered / improperly annealed. I can now compare this coin with others that I have suspicions for.

I'd imagine this post will cause an influx of ED pieces. I'm surprised to see that.

I am thinking because of the mint luster NGC thinks it is a sintered / improperly annealed coin. The ED ones are dull looking. John1

Cool find even though I have no idea what annealed means!
Cheers

i'd of loved to see the edge but now that it's authenticated by them I'd think it will be as I expect it, really clean bright and BU compared to the obverse and reverse.
Is the value for it if sold worth the fees to have it graded though? I may send my 2019 AMP-P in, but hesitant if it would ever be worth the grading fees for the slabbed opinion from them.

@CO, I'm glad for you to have this error certified. I'm just wondering if you have any close-ups of the surface (especially prior to getting it slabbed) that you could add to this thread. I'm typically pretty pessimistic about the existence of these errors, but would like to see the surface texture and appearance so that I can be a more helpful responder in future CCf threads. Thx.

This coin was one of nine that I submitted to NGC. It was my first submission, ever. It is a learning experience for me. I could have swore that I took pics of this quarter, but I cannot find one in my files. Sintered coins are hard to photograph and show the actual tone compared to normal coins and to determine ED with Annealing. For example, these are three suspected sintered coins compared to a normal finish coin.

Ok thanks. The difference in surface shine and texture comes through in your pic, but think that I still would have a hard time distinguishing between a legit mint error and damage via chemical or environmental exposure.

GreasyFingers, sorry, English is not my first language, so I am learning every single day. I'm glad you found my comment funny. Humor is good for the soul! I just want to contribute as much as I can. I am still a "rookie" . However, because of all you I have learned a lot in the past couple of months. Love this hobby!
