I went to my local coin shop and he couldn't find this error in any of his books. Other than the coin being improperly cleaned has anyone ever seen this error? It looks like Lady Liberty is smoking a cigar, the hair on the east side on the obverse is incorrect and there appears to be Cud through the obverse of the coin. /Users/TIM/Desktop/1922DObverse.jpg

The cigar is obvious. The many tiny bumps on the obverse, which appear to be raised above the field and the design elements are a bit strange.

Any chance you could weigh the coin and provide a photo of the edge?

Ok hmm, the weight looks right. How about the diameter and the thickness? If you don't have a good way to measure it, perhaps just compare with a non-suspect Peace dollar from your collection.

Everything seems to check out with the specks, but I'm going to get it measured today... Time to buy some calipers.
Rest in Peace

The inconsistent line beneath the edge reeding is probably where the edge of two halves of a casting mold came together. Which is why I asked.

Couple that with the pimples and it's certain this is a poorly cast counterfeit.
