This bronze coin looks like it might have a date 981 at the top. The other side looks like either a flower or maybe a wheel?

Following up the Mamluk hunch, and throwing in "rosette" to the search, I do see some similar looking five-petaled rosettes, described as concave (presumably meaning the petals are intaglio, like in the OP coin), referenced at: http://numismatics.org/digitallibra...95/nnan55713

Comparison pic below. I could be way off base. This is kushanshah's area.
