@ktb, unless I am missing something, the answer is no this coin does not need to be slabbed.

You could request that the mods move your post over to the us modern coin grading section of ccf to get an opinion for free.

The one I seen on the video didn't look as good as mine, and it brought about 3000. There were very few 61 and 61d pennies left in good condition .

How about a link to that video. I can think of absolutely no way a '61 is worth that much.

BTW, there's still millions in good shape. I've an unopened bag of 5000.

edit, this video claims that a '61D over inv. D sold for 125K & biz strike 67 sold for 4K

The photos of the OPs coin don't show a D over horizontal D. That's the "Money" coin.

I found several 1961-D over horizontal D coins on ebay ranging from $25 to $99. I haven't found any info on a $125K sale.

There's 264 of them on ebay alone. I think there's plenty.

Absent a clear close-up of the mintmark area that suggests otherwise, OP's coin appears completely normal.

I have 10,000 in Unc. condition myself. I'm sure a few more sealed bags are available.

Should I get this graded ?

That's a face value coin according to PCGS. I will include a link. I wouldn't trust YouTube videos, it's always best to do a bit of research to confirm what they are saying.

Yokozuna, the guy in the video said $125, NOT 125k and regular 1961 D apparently sold for over 4k. All of you with uncirculated '61D better cash in. Haha

Even if they are Uncirculated they are probably not a Ms67 or above. Looks like a 66 averages around $20.

Looking further into it there are several that have sold for around 4k. However it seems that they also often sell for under 1000$
