@palouche, it was on ebay sold by Sandrdavi-73. Once I got it in my hand I was a little unsure of it, so I guess a second opinion would be good. That being said, the seller has 100% rating and isn't on the fake sellers list and has some really nice coins for sale. Its probably just because it's an odd shape. I tend to stick with only 2 sellers on ebay for my ancient coins that I trust and have 100% rating. Here is a better picture of the coin

Ahhhh...Thats better!... It wasn't the shape but the texture of the first photos.. Lovely detail on the spearman and I really like the posture of the bowed horses head.... Nice coin! and a type I've yet to acquire...Paul

The lighting was all wrong on the first one...I realised after posting it that it looked like a nasty reproduction with how I had taken the pics. I think I always worry because it gets drummed into you about fakes (and rightly so) although it is sad that it has to be!! All in all, I love it. It's my first fallen horseman with beautifully clear details.

Take a look at the one recently posted by maridvnvm at the end of this thread: http://goccf.com/t/352564It's simply in fabulous condition, I don't see how it could be bettered.

Wow the first set of pics did look "iffy" , but the second set looks to be . I have quite a few: All bought from the same seller, but I always wondered about the patina - I mean whether they were repatinated.

I was bidding against you there...but you'll be glad to know that I only bid £3.65 as my budget was unable to stretch to a proper amount! Heres one of my nicest Fel Temps:

Oh no!...sorry! I shouldn't have bid as much as I did though, although very happy I got it!! I like that one too. I've just got back from Hospital with my young lad, so am hoping to find some time tonight to match it on wildwinds. Liking all the pics posted on here of the fallen horseman. thank you for everyone's info and pictures of your collections

Not very well versed on the variation in the "Fallen Horseman" types But I have seen where the fellow getting the shaft varies according to mint and just whom the locals were dealing with that required a military solution I picked this one up around a year ago I paid more than I normally would for the type But I noticed the horseman not only has his buttocks planted on terra firma but he appears to be begging for mercy as he gets his comeuppance Just for good measure his horse is also about to fall on top of him ! I also noted that he does not appear to be wearing trousers as is generally the case but some sort of robes In AD 350 as seen by the soldier Real men wore skirts ! Thessaloniki Centenionalis RIC 123 6.47 grams 24-5mm Good silvering neath the green I removed 90% of the green but decided to quit lest I remove some of the silver

Over the years, I've had a few examples of the horseman sitting on the ground. The last two examples below were minted under the authority of Vetranio. Thessalonica 123 RIC VIII Thessalonica 134 RIC VIII Thessalonica 134
