Hi I am new at this. I would like information on error coins. If they are errors and how would you find out what they are worth?
Thank you, Jody

to CCF. There is a difference between an error and a variety. Some of yours are varieties,55-s is a BIE caused by a die chip. The 09 looks like circulation damage. 52-s Looks like circulation damage. 89-D looks like environmental damage. Feel free to use the search box, upper left of page for more info.

We are quite forgiving. As long as we all learn together, we are happy.

I might suggest just posting one coin at a time in the future with the best possible properly oriented photos you can provide.

That makes it easy for us.

By learning how coins are made, then by learning what could go wrong to cause an error.

Google "coin errors" for a great start

nss-52 hs the right suggestion for how to learn to recognize true errors. The very first thing to do is to learn as much as you can about how coins are made. Once you know how they are made, if you run into something odd you ask yourself "Could this have happened in the coin making process?" For example on your 1909 cent, once you understand that the 0 was part of the master hub and that all of the master dies, working hubs, and working dies come from that same master hub then you know that the misshapen 0 on your coin has to be post strike damage.
