A friend of mine gave me his wheaties to go through, and I'm pretty confident I found a 1955 double die, not as strong as anyone would hope for, but the last 5 certainly seems to be doubled. Used my scanner for the image as my cell phone lense is scratched badly to use macro, so I'll try to use my wife's later when she gets home. In the meantime, opinions?

The 'poor man's doubled die' refer to die deteriration doubling. And, as stated, is quite common. The really rare 1955 P doubled die obverse has doubling on the devices so widely separated that no magnification is needed to see the doubling. As seen in this picture.

The die that struck this coin had begun to deteriorate. The terminal digit of the date and the I of Liberty has become distorted noticeably from this. This is not a type of doubling that carries a premium.

Another coin that is faked from overseas. Serbia example compared with the real deal see if you can spot the differences on "LIBERTY"?
