I received this decent 1927 plain Wheat penny but I noticed something strange on the reverse. It's missing a few letters from the phrase "United States Of America" and I was wondering if someone could help confirm if it's a real mint error or just post mint damage.

Its most likely caused by a Grease Filled Die. Can you post a closeup of the missing letters?

I think it's a Struck Through Grease issue. A keeper in my book.

@mf, first welcome to CCF. Second, when I enlarge and enhance your pic, it certainly looks like there was some grease in the die that struck your coin. A better close-up could help confirm.
