I have just recently decided to put together the full lincoln set starting 1909, with as many woodies as possible. The rest of them including the Zincolns will be heavily toned if I cant find one with some woodgrain. I want the toning to be as natural as possible. I really like the look of them, I am not interested in paying huge bucks to get primo high grade coins, and I think that the look of a finished set of wild woodies would look pretty unique. I will post some pics of a few that I have so far when I get a chance. Collecting is all about fun!

Sounds like a fun project. You do know that woodgraining is only really prevalent up to 1923, right? Beyond that, it can be tough to find woodies.

Yeah I knew they were mostly from early Lincolns but did not know exactly in 1923. That is why I decided that the dates that I cant get with a woodgrain tone will be heavily toned and full of color! For this set grade is not near as important as the unique look of the coin. This way I can actually afford to put a full set of cents together.

Nicely toned Lincolns, full of color sell for a premium....a big time premium. I don't think you're going to get off cheap! All of my beautifully toned and colorful Lincoln's have been pretty expensive. Not only that, they are almost all MS grade. Once a cent coin becomes brown and worn, the chances of it acquiring attractive toning greatly diminishes due to deep oxidation and surface contamination.
