Bought this coin loose. What are your thoughts? Any issue with it? Should I send for grading? Thanks Edited by rum_n_cola 08/26/2019 2:07 pm

There are varieties for this year & mm, but I cant see anything with that glare. Philly created the dies for every mint, that year. That
gives us some interesting OMMs.

Better photos needed for sure but I have a strong feeling this one is counterfeit.

It's really not a very good counterfeit.

rum n cola - I know you've had problems with counterfeits in the past, and this may be another. Give us better pics as soon as you can, please. And if possible, the weight.

I would agree that this is most likely a counterfeit.

The seller has more fake coins for sale. Are we allowed to post ebay links here or sellers names? Anybody here able to get him shut down? I mean he has 1oz credit suisse bars for sale too. All fake. People are about to get burned like me. I'm only going to be from reputable places and certified coins, and do lots of reading now that I'm venturing away from Morgan's which is my comfort area. This coin with the other fakes from that seller are headed back. Opened PayPal case. Though he is still selling.

rum_n_cola hope it works out for you. Luckily you have Paypal to help bail you out on this one. Before buying coins you are not familiar with, look at as many photos of genuine coins that you can before pulling the trigger. When comparing a genuine coin to a possible fake, you'll get to a point where you able to spot things that just look off. Always best to buy from a reputable dealer even if it costs slightly more, bargains are not always a bargain. Slabbed coins are a good way to go but remember that the Chinese are also counterfeiting those.

The unscrupulous seller is edno6692. His cover story is his grandfather worked for the US mint for 40 years and all this is his inheritance. He sold me fake 1882 gold $20 1942/1 dime, the 1955 double die and a fake $50 maple leaf in pccb holder. Now he is selling more stuff, gold bars, crazy.
