Im not sure where to post this topic, so please feel free to move it to the most proper location. I mainly collect Silverware and have become interested in Georgian coins.

I have come across a silver Georgian Toddy ladle, unusually with a 1805 Sierra Leone Company 10 cent coin in silver with possibly gold plating I was wondering if the coin looses its value as a coin if it is set in silver, also what do you think of the coin?

Many thanks for your time

It's got a lion on it, so it's worth something in any condition. :)

I think it might be better said that the coin contributes to the value of the toddy ladle. The coin has been damaged by incorporation and would have little value if removed. On the other hand, coin insets seem a regular feature of these ladles. I can see some interest in one which references early colonial Africa.
