CoinTheTerm, look at Jim's post count and when he joined. He has been doing this for couple of years now and have learned a lot from years of searching. You'll get there too. Just keep searching if you enjoy the hobby. It can definitely be time consuming. I've been through 20 rolls and found nothing. I have 10 rolls left and hope I'll find a nice one, if not, it's alright I'll juts go and get more boxes to search. You never know what you'll find. Keep at it

Cheers

The marker is not the same as Wexler's. The location is slightly off. I would need some wider shots to see if it is that die or not? On your coin there is a Die Deterioration issue towards the rims. So if you could post some wider images with more devices, then I could make a better side by side of each shot.

I'm not fully convinced either. I'd expect the notching on the A in AMERICA to be stronger, I don't see the separation on FG, and there should be some clear doubling in EPU that you didn't picture. But this could just be because the photos aren't the best.

Can you get closer pics?

This one is VERY tough for me. More than likely I would've overlooked this one, unless there's drastic thickness to reverse motto. This is the one where you need to know EXACTLY what to look for and sadly I don't

If you say so John, and I say that with the utmost respect, I will agree to disagree on this one.

The last few comments of this thread are more in line with the old threads that I have read on here not just one liners. Thanks again everyone

Here you go guys. Obverse die markers match.

Obverse markers do match, so you probably have it. It's just really difficult to see the doubling in your pics. I see the extra thickness, but Die Deterioration and circulation wear could also cause the appearance of extra thickness. I always look for notching and separation lines on these late 80s-early 90s Class II DDRs. If it doesn't have any, I throw it back.

The pics aren't the best for sure I have a new macro lens and still figuring it out. Although the pics do not show it very well there is a split in the bottom right leg in the last A as well as extra thickness in EPU. Also there appears to be some doubling in the banner especially close to the right cornice.

Well that helps a lot more. Keep in mind when matching die scratches, the stronger die scratches will remain next to a device. The strongest die scratches will last longest inside of a device.
