I ran across this coin and was wondering if it was a mint error (like a filled die or something) or a post minting damage. The 9 is very faint compared to the other numbers in the date and almost looks like a "g" rather than a "9".

need a bigger picture of the reverse side of the coin, but I can see damage on the 9 without better pictures.

Here it looks like the 9 has just been smashed rather than a mint error, but I am no expert--would like other opinions please!
