This 1937 "Mercury" dime has lots of luster, but has some marks on the obverse. The photo shows the long die crack on the side of Liberty's face fairly well. It starts at the center of her cap in a backwards 7 and then extends down just in front of her ear to the very bottom of her jaw. It's easy to see it with the coin "in hand" and really stands out from different angles as it catches the light. What grade would you give this coin? Do you see this dime as an error coin? Would a TPG make note of the die crack? Would it count against the grade? And lastly, what would you ask for this coin if you sold it? Thanks for reading this post! ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? Please DON'T! When in doubt, leave it dirty!!

Really gr east looking coin though. With well over 56 million minted, I wouldn't worry to much about value. I'm sure it would get a MS grade but due to that die crack, not real high a grade. Nice FSB though.

A blazing MS-64 but I'm not so sure about the center bands being split , looks awfully close .

64FSB. Eye Appeal 7/10. As Condor stated, die chips and cracks do not affect numerical grade, although they may alter the eye appeal which most certainly changes value, both positively or negatively.
In this case I doubt that crack would attract additional interest.
