The "Wing" is the result of wear and tear on the die from use. It was not there before the mintmark was punched.

Yesterday,I just did a quick search and didn't take into account the position of mm..therefore with John1, no 021, still a nice die affect/die chip...keeper if it was in my hand...what you guys say?
