Well just got a box of $25.00 in pennies went through about five rolls. Then my son in law calls and says he is bringing me the pennies his father had been collecting in a big crock for years.
Well he brings these in a heavy duty pillow case must be 100 pounds of pennies. So all I am doing right now is trying to separate copper from zinc and count them. So far I am up to $ 60.00 worth and have not made a dent in them yet will be quite awhile till I go through all these.
So far I am kind of disappointed only have seen about 10 wheat pennies.

You just have to know there are people that just refuse to accept what about 200,000,000 people call our penny and that is PENNY. We have many songs that call them PENNY and so do all kids. Meanwhile you may be missing something. If I were you I would take my time and also pull out all 1970S, 1972, all 82's, 83's, 84's, 95's, etc. Put them aside to be checked later. Naturally the 72 double die would be nice. Did you hear a 1982 Double Die reverse has recently been found? Then of course the 84 double ear thing. I'd watch for the possible, not so famous 59 Wheat back also. Then too you should watch for any possible other error coins such as RPM's. Based on what you say about the quantity and if you do what I recommend, we will not be hearing from you for about 100 years. Sooner by about 50 years if you get help.

Don't you just hate it when that many people are wrong about something ? Now while I agree that many people call our cent coin a penny that does not make it correct ,when you look through the many and varied reference materials available for US coins you will not find the word penny used . Here is what we would get if that were the case LMP, LWP,or just LP ,would you know what I was talking about if I used those abbreviated references ?. Now about these coins ,,paper cups marked with dates by the decade work good for helping to sort these coins once sorted by date then a secondary sorting of the individual cups by mint mark will make the piles yet smaller ,,then do as has been suggested and look for the errors varieties and specific dates which maybe in the bunch .

Well thanks for all the advice I plan to keep them all for now all I am doing is trying to make a rough sort of copper and zinc and get a total to pay him for the value of these think at least $ 200.00 maybe $ 300.00 worth of them.
I live in PA but every year come October 26th I leave to spend the winter in my RV in the South Texas Gulf so most of these will sit till I get back. When I am in TX naturally I collect the D mints of everything as all we see up here in PA are P mints.
These pennies are not going anywhere and I will go through them good and as stated probably keep 90 percent of them. Oh my I keep way to much but I just love coins you feel like you actually have money worth value.
Again thanks I will post my finds come next summer.

Not sure if it's just me but I've noticed when looking through a $50 bag of pennies I start seeing a lot of double dies. Both front and back. By the time I finish, most everything is doubled. I've found that not drinking Marini's during this process has helped somewhat.

The one you found was really popular some years back. It was sold with a piece of cardboard that had many similarities between Lincoln and Kennedy. Every once in a while this comes up on coin forums and usually someone knows where that list is located.
