a show and tell , but have to ask is this what you call a fin rim ? and why is the back side of the D mint mark so thick ? any input

That was what I was thinking also. If it were a die crack it would be raised more. But it may have been a struck through debris as it doesn't appear to go past the head and the rim looks affected. (maybe edge also?)
