I'm the Buffalo collector again: I went to a major auction 20 years ago with a friend. This 'Unc' raw 1893-O half dollar came up for bid -- he had seen it during previews -- he really wanted to purchase it, but he was out of money by the time the coin came up. So I did. I put it in for grading, it did grade MS, but I was not happy -- based on my buddies insistence -- that it got a high enough grade (probably stupid of me). I took it out of the slab to resubmit, but never did. I've looked the 'values' up now, now matter what it grades, I did well. But before I submit, I'd love to get opinions. It is very toned obviously, if newer closer photos would help, I can make them. What do people think this should grade? thanks, Mark

What color was this coin when you obtained it 20 years ago ? 1st. I don't see a single letter of LIBERTY , 2nd. there is zero luster on this coin . I'm just not a fan of this Half .

It was toned, same as now.

Much better pics needed, highlighting the surface detail on both sides (including the ribbon over Liberty's brow). These pics tell us very little. to the CCF!

Yes, I am having trouble taking good pictures with my setup and I'll be gone for a few days. I'll try to take some better shots of all three coins I asked about when I am back. BTW, it graded MS-63 at NGC; but my friend, who was an 'expert' thought it should be graded MS-65. I do not know much about this series, I thought I could get some help here before resubmit, and I was just very curious. Thanks for getting back.

We'd like to help, but you've got a long way to go on the pics, as I'm sure you know.

Looks like it's in a plastic flip. You need to take it out for better pics.

I don't think it would pull an 65 but I for sure could see it in an MS-64 slab. Nice original unmolested coin.
