this came in. thoughts? clashes in the fields at the lower half of the cross above the shield are ridiculous.

What you are seeing above the shield around the cross are scribe marks, not clashing. Go to http://www.shieldnickels.net. It was set up by Howard Spindel, an expert on Shield nickels. It is an invaluable resource. Nice pick up by the way as this coin retails closer to $300. A nice AU-58!
