Here is my 1802 C-2. Lots of problems, but it's still an 1802. It was listed on ebay years ago as an 1800. This is my 1803 C-4.

Okay ... it's time for a counterstamp! J.LYNE IS LISTED BY RULAU, BUT HE WAS NOT IDENTIFIED. THIS IS MOST LIKELY JOHN LYNE WHO MADE BRASS CANDLETRIMMERS AND SNUFFERS IN HARRISBURG, PA. HE WAS A MASON AND A MEMBER OF THE PA MILITIA. I HAVE TWO OTHER J.LYNE COUNTERSTAMPS, ON AN 1832 Half Cent AND A CIRCA 1828 JACKSON POLITICAL TOKEN THAT'S THE SIZE OF A Half Cent. THERE'S A TOTAL OF EIGHT J.LYNE COUNTERSTAMPS RECORDED, OF WHICH THE 1832 Half Cent IS THE LATEST DATE. THUS, THESE WERE MOST LIKELY STAMPED IN THE HARD TIMES ERA.

This is my first Half Cent I bought in the late 1970's. An 1804 C-7.

Hmmmm, I've never noticed before but there is one (or more) Cuds on the reverse along with a die break that may have later turned into additional/larger Cuds. Now I have to look up the Cohen Number and maybe even the Die State.

Now we're rolling. That's a particularly nice example, cipster.

I agree that we have seen some great '04 Half Cents today. Here is mine (with crosslet 4 and stems):

Cipster, NICE looking coin. Surfaces are pretty well clear of dings (unlike mine). But is that graffiti behind Liberty's head?

Quote: But is that graffiti behind Liberty's head? Kanga - Perhaps you are correct as you have a much keener eye for coins. I never saw that. I zoomed in and can't really tell as it is so tiny. Opinions are welcome. Thanks

I vote for a random coincidence of marks.
