Hi soulkeeper

That is an interesting coin ,very valuable if authentic !

do you have a way to weigh the coin ?

the coin looks right but weight is critical .

it should weigh 26.9568 grams it is made from 90%silver .

going by the pictures the coin looks to be in around extra fine condition and could bring as much as a couple of thousand dollars .

It will help to have a weight since that is about the only thing we can go by here for authentication purposes .

Hello Metalman, I had it weight around 29.2 grams including the plastic, carton and 4 staple wires I did not have it opened to insure that it wont get damaged and neither it was tested for the material in order not to damage the item.

An accurate weight without the 2X2 will need to be taken .

just work carefully and handle the coin only by the edges not touching the surfaces and you should be ok .

the 2X2 looks like it could stand to be replaced by a better more stable holder anyway ,, for a coin like this one an airtite would be a good choice .

Like I said by appearances the coin looks authentic and the weight will tell a big part of the story .

Its a great coin with a mintage of only 201,000 coins its really a nice example of a fairly rare coin !.

That coin is a counterfeit.
The real one has a straight serif on the "1" of 1906. This one pictured above is curved.

1 sikevo is correct ,,I missed the curved serif ,, all of the legitimate 1906-S Peso's have a straight serif on the 1 due to a die change in 1905 where both the curved and straight serifs are seen on the 1905-S coins all of the 1906-S coins were struck with the straight serif dies .

Metalman,
Serif aside, the lack of any luster plus the wash-out look of the fields doesn't look right. Plus, the stars above the shield looks a bit detailed for a VF coin.
Overall, it never looked right to me, even at first glance.

The color of the coin does not bother me ,,some of my other phillipines coins have toned very similar to this one ,, I gave the coin a grade of EF ,,I think that after looking further that the coin is an altered 1905-s , the 6 pops out a little from the rest of the numbers .

I appreciate you catching the serif , while I had the information I missed it completely .

Thanks
