Hi,
I don't have this camera (I have a Nikon D70S), but just out of curiousity I looked at some specs.
Here's one thing I read:

Quote:
"The Z712 IS doesn't let you get terribly close to your subject in macro mode. The minimum distance is 12 cm at wide-angle and 1.2 m at telephoto."

This review doesn't have any coin photos, but their test shot doesn't look too good in regards to flatness of field, which is important for coin shots. For a camera that only has one lens option, make sure it works well for macro...testing in a shop is probably the best way.
You might also check out my review of the Nikon S51, which also does a decent job at coin macros. Good luck!

Here's an example of what my Nikon D70S does with the Nikkor 60mm macro (closest focus is 6.5cm):

Hi Bruce,
I have the Kodak z710 Easy Share 7.1 mp with 10x optical.
I haven't played with it recently but I did post a try out pic some time ago here.

I have this camera, unfortunately I can't figure out how to get good macro pictures out of it... I use an old Nikon Coolpix 5MP 3x optical zoom in macro zoomed all the way, then crop the picture. Unfortunately I don't get the large and detailed pictures I'm seeing here.
