The choice is clear: Damaged coins are easy to buy, tough to sell, and always difficult to look at without seeing the damage first.

I like the '99 honestly. My eye draws right to those scratches on the '97, but it is nice tho!

C'mon, Grape - You don't need either of these. Set your sights higher.

Pretty much all that's left for my type set is a seated half and dollar, and draped bust and FH. I haven't found a Seated dollar I like yet, targeting AU55 for that one. For DB I want full EPU on reverse. Finding a well struck EPU is a challenge to say the least. I have $1500-$1600 budgeted for the dollar, and around $1000 each for the others, but that's simply not enough. As for FH my target grade is G4

I agree with frog, door number three but if it came down to these two the '99 is my preference.

I like the reverse design on the 97, but the scratches are too distracting. Cameo on the obverse of the 99 is nice even if the reverse is a bit bland. I'd buy the 99; I would not buy the 97.

Said my piece. Unsound choice.

All the images are very bright. I never liked buying problem coins so would disqualify the 1797 straight away.
