I found this 2015 dime with some sort of scratch and metal build up on it. Is It a mint error or environmental damage. The back is clean

@Asilana, first welcome to CCF. Second, from your pic, I can't tell if there is something added on top of the surface of the coin that is rough or whether it is the coin itself. If it is on top of the coin, then it is most likely clear glue reside. Otherwise, I agree with the frog.

Thank you. I have not come across damage like this before. I dont think it is residue. I was thinking it was caught in a machine but the back side is clean. Hopefully this picture is more clear.
