I'd say G-06 on both. I think you did OK.

VG-8 on the 1872, and G-6 on the 1870.

with Zurie for grade. But I do consider both of those to be higher eye appeal. 7/10 on the 72 and 6/10 on the 70. Love the original color of both.

Was curious what you guys value the 1872 at dollar-wise?

I have an 1872 in slightly worse condition (like a G-04) I paid $60, so $85 seems OK. The 1870 to 1874 were the hardest to find in VG+, all I found were AG-G, anything else was AU+ and I wasn't going to pay AU prices. My 1870 I paid $25 in a slightly better condition. I think you did OK. I got the 1870 from a CLS that I did a lot of business with so he cut me a break.
I checked prices and the 1872 (looking like yours) is selling from 95-100, so the prices paid seem fair.

I see the 1872 going anywhere from 80.00 to 128.00 an occasional 150.00 on ebay for VG8-10ish examples raw with nice details. The 1870 runs the gamut from 38.00 to 100.00 for attractive G6 examples. Slabbed by PCGS or NGC they are pretty much availible close to book. Surprised what 1872's are hammering at in iffy F12's raw, one went for 258.00 Sunday. Dealers in KS have many of these available raw in G to VF but many have issues. Have decided when time to buy one in EF then PCGS or NGC will be a must. Thanks to the forum and some book time I spotted counterfeit 1868, 69, and 72's at folding table flea markets in KS. and CO. My unsolicited comments to sellers was not appreciated, I now courteously place them back when noticed. There has to be more than 6 thousand of these, I have personally examined more than 100 raw 1872's this summer what I did notice was about half had damage of some sort and or harsh cleaning. So I deduce surviving estimates are for original coins? If this forum opions the coins are good to go then I know today I'm batting 300. Don't worry, I always have a Lemon around the next corner so went disappoint.

Must disagree that the 1872 is VG - it is close, but the top of the ribbon is incomplete and only the faintest trace of the L and Y are visible here. A true VG is easily worth more than $85, and any serious seller would know that.

I'm with Frog, the 72 is G-6, just falls short of VG. The 70 is well worn and G-4.
