Hi all,

Again, recently I've been trying to improve my US collection and grading skills. I have some thoughts on this bust half I just acquired, but I'll keep them for myself for now.

Please let me know what you think.

Thank you!

All right. We're off to the races here! Two pretty different opinions. I'll take the AU55 if I have the choice!

I'm worried about the rims on the obverse. Filed down? Or just super weak and then worn away?

I'm no expert on this type...but from what I see (obverse: weak/worn rim and stars and reverse rim nicer) I'm in the Gincoin43 camp...Lets see what others say....good luck

@Gincoin & greasy, pay close attention. The obverse is VLDS notice how the stars flow into the rim? The denticles being part of the die are subject to die wear as well. Based on that, if the die reaches a late enough die stage without failure the denticles could completely disappear. The reverse is MDS, so it would have stronger rims.

All,

Take a look at this coin on ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1831-Overt...132754298617

The two seem similar. My coin seems to match the Overton 110 coins a lot, both in the weak to no denticles on the obverse and where the strike is weak on the reverse.

Hi all,

Results are in. Wish they matched the consensus here, but I'm still happy with the coin.
