NCSue New Member United States 18 Posts	Posted 09/22/2019 11:38 am I was wondering which errors would be significant? Minimal die clash on obverse, I know, is common. Filled B (obverse). Small Cud on "8" (Rev). I know that the misaligned die(rev) is common. As with the Cud on the rim, I am wondering how this one happened(I know there are different reasons, but I am getting confused). The Cud looks pressed, as opposed to an irregular blob(?). The edge of the coin and opposite side of the reverse, are unaffected. Still a learning experience for this newbie. Thanks for your help! The rest are die chips. http://cuds-on-coins.com/washington...tate-terr-2/ A lot of the smaller Cuds look smooth rather than ragged. And the Obverse is affected, look how weak UNITED is. A Cud happens when the edge of the die breaks off, when the coin is struck, the blank planchet tries to fill the empty hole making the opposite side weak as the metal is going to the other side. The collar, what makes the rim, is separate from the die so it's not affected. Report this Post to the Staff
