Hello there. So, I've searched many different places to find something consistent, regarding this 1969D Copper Dime. To me, it clearly appears copper all the way through. Does anyone have some updated accurate information with regards to this coin? Thank you kindly, in advance.

Hello and

This is environmental damage. Dimes dug up by metal detector users always look like this when they've been in the soil for a while.

@squirm, yes for sure the surface looks copper, but I'm virtually positive that this is just due to environmental exposure--you can even see some remaining soil at 12 o'clock on the obv. To confirm, can you please post the weight of this dime?

Lots of folks show us heavily toned or environmentally damaged coins that have a "strange" color.

I'm afraid that's what yours is too. Safe to be spent.

Thank you for the feedback. I didn't imagine that a buried coin could resemble copper as much as it does. WOW! Also, how can I reply to individual comments? I just keep hitting "Reply to Post" at the top.
