@cwalk, first welcome to CCF. Second, when I rotate, crop, enlarge, and enhance your pic it becomes pretty pixelated. However, it looks safe to say that the number 1 and part of number 9 in the date are damaged.

As mentioned, it is a circulation damage, taken a hit and metal has been smashed.
