Looks like the 5 took a straight hit that clipped off the left edge of the upright. Beyond that, perhaps a bit of Machine Doubling? Beautiful coin!

On the 1958-D DDO, the hub doubling isn't an issue on the date. It is on the LIBERTY and the Motto:
One-Cent-1958-D-DDO-001?
Note these areas. Your coin is from a totally normal die. (Only three examples of this known so far) So the die was noticed and was pulled early in the run.

Not sure why the big DDO on the 1958 is coming up here, as this is 1958-D. But nice pics and a really nice coin show... what really appears to be Machine Doubling and not a DDO. DDO-001 it is not, as that just has some minor doubling under the LIBERTY and a flicker of a doubling above the 9 in the date which are not visible on your coin.
