Howdy yall. Well here I go again. This 2016 D has smooth sides in very large percent of it. The rim is higher than normal also the edge is thicker than most. Thanks for time .

I don't think it's a Dryer Coin. The edge is too smooth and I don't see the normal damage on the obverse and reverse images, but it is just a damaged coin. PSD

It looks as if it was squeezed in a mechanical device. Sometimes they need to reduce the diameter of pipes so they fit into the end of another pipe or fitting. That type of device may have been used to modify the edge. (Thanks to Mike Diamond for a recent post with this information!)

Yep, it's a damaged coin. It's in the Dryer Coin style, but may not actually be that. You can still see some remnants of the original reeding on the edge.

might even be the start of a spooned coin. Whatever it is it is not a mint error.
