Hi team,
Does anyone know whether this ear hole is some kind of recurring phenomenon or not.

I am not sure if this occurred at the mint or was tampered with. I'm leaning towards tampered, but you never know. Comments?

Looks like a round/pointed punch, or ice pick or an awl was used on your coin. Note the eagle is pushed outwards on the reverse. So the coin was damaged. PSD Spendable.

Hello fplagge,

If you didn't say it was a hole, I would have guessed it was grease or magic marker.

Here's a quick overlay of the damaged obverse area over the reverse. It could be a little off because I can't tell the exact alignment of the coin.

Wow! Nice eye, coop.
I have the coin "in hand" and still can not see the pushed out eagle.

Thanks, everyone
P.S. Maybe someone was trying to remove some ear wax¿?
