I will be in the Newport Beach, CA area next month. Are there any coin shops worth checking out?

@cdnc, you could check this thread below (and if there isn't an entry for NB, but you happen to find a LCS, please add in some pics and a description). Thx!

I've never been to any of these but here's a few ideas.
L&C Coins in Los Alamitos, just a few miles up the freeway from Newport Beach.
Bob Patchin's Coin Gallery in Tustin, again close by. Do a search for addresses and phone numbers.
Also, if you're going to be there the first Sunday of the month there's a small monthly coin show at The Embassy Suites Hotel in Anaheim, a short drive from Newport Beach. Not very big, but friendly people there. Search for North County Monthly Coin Show for directions.

Liberty Coin in Huntington Beach (right next to Newport.B)...Just a little back story , A few years ago I hit a fair size jackpot in Vegas, instead of just blowing the money, I thought I would spend it on coins. Went there, spoke to a guy named Zach, told him about jackpot and that I really only collected pocket change and family gifts up to that point....what did he sell me that day? A bunch of books and told me to read the books before buying the coins. He also told me about this site and a few others to follow. Since then I have made some nice purchases from them

I was at the Huntington Beach Liberty Coin location last year and picked up a Dansco album. The guy I spoke with was friendly. Although they didn't have a great coin selection. Apparently their other location in Signal Hill has more stuff.

If you happen to be in Orange County, CA I recommend checking out Laguna Coins aka Gold, Cards & Coins. I purchased two Lincoln cents, a 1909-S and 1931-S at very reasonable prices. I also found pg 4 of the Roosevelt 7125 album I had been looking for for a long time. They have a weekly auction with items posted on the wall. The auctions end every Wed at 7pm. I happened to be there on a Wed, so bid on a few items and came back in the evening. It's a nice social vibe with free pizza and cookies and a few free draws for people who won auctions.
