This one was a pretty tight one for me. I paid about the au53 price thinking it makes au55 and straight (no problems). I usually like to have a lot more daylight than just one grade but this being an 1884-S I was competing with others for the coin.

Could be 55, but honestly, these pics are too dark to get a really good feel for the surfaces.

From those photos it looks dull indicating too long or too many dips. Hope I'm wrong.

250$ is PCGS' current suggested price for a graded au53, I would think 200$ would have been a decent price pending brighter photos.

I am at 50. To get to 55, the coin typically needs to show some luster.
