Hello I am kind of new to coin roll hunting and so far have only done penny and nickel boxes but whenever I am reading about what dates/coins to keep everyone always says that they pull out the Canadian cents and 5 cents ....why do people keep these if they are not valuable? Thanks!

to CCF. Only thing I can think of to keep Canada cents is because they do not make them anymore and the copper ones you could melt if you wanted to.

I'm not a saver of Canadian unless they have real numismatic value - which isn't often. I have rolls of earlier dated cents and even those really aren't worth messing with.

In Minnesota we get A LOT of Canadian.

There is no particular reason to save the non-numismatic Canada 1 and 5 cent. My LCS sells these for 5 and 10 cents each respectively, and sometimes just deposits them in the bank.

Thanks for the replies guys! I guess I will probably only keep the older dated Canadians.

In my area, my coin shop will give me a 1.00 for 400 of each. And don't worry, I already picked out the good stuff. The crappy zinc ones and the worthless Copper ones are thrown into a bag.
