Had a longer story written out but it got deleted. So now it will be more of a short version to vent. I went to the coinstar like I usually do. My searched coins jammed up the machine. An unbelievably helpful cashier managed to get the machine open and clear up issues coins that were in THE INTERNAL REJECT TRAY were placed on coinstar machine. Was just wrapping up when an older cashier who's face is burnt into my memory swooped in and quietly claimed to young and helpful coworker that the coin on the coinstar counter was her mothers. My opinion it was possible but not likely it was her mothers but opinions are like "otherthings" I was given a bent dime a nickel and a dirty cent from the pile. The cashier walked away with the canadian gold coin in the bezel and whatever else was in the pile I was told "it's just a couple canadians and a few dirty pennies. 16 cents richer but traumatized for life. I saw it closer than my camera did. If I wasnt so sore I might consider a job with coinstar given theres an internal tray also for whatever the machine decides not to count but at the same time not to return. I had thought news the machine had an "internal reject tray" may be news to most notice the quotation marks around that term...its because its mine coinstar may possibly have another term for it...idk I just call it like it is and still just a bit disappointed.

Take your complaint to the store manager and to Coinstar. They should be able to share with you what the policies are regarding internal rejects.

You are the customer. You must swoop in with the speed of a hawk, snatch the lovely gold, and snicker as you depart.

You don't have to tell me about it, I saw a very similar situation take place...short story it is not...but those internal trays are incredible compared to what comes back out. I once watched a coin star "tech" empty one...in the large clear jar I could see fifty cents silvers, foreign to no end, many small denomiation silver and non, and surprisingly many what looked like perfectly good spendable coins including a great number of one and two dollar coins. So that guy was making bank everytime he did a service call...great job if you can get it.

Coinstar reject trays have attracted a cult-like following of folks the last few years. Checked 'em myself a few times with not much luck, until last January when I scored well over two dozen silver quarters, silver half, mercs and silver Canadians. Believe me the cup was filled to overflowing.
