Collecting foreign coins(Darkside) is starting to boom in the USA. I think some of it is due to the beauty and variety of the coins. Another aspect is economic. Many rare or relativly rare issues can be had at great prices. The third factor and perhaps the biggest one is....crystalk64(Terry)!!!!!LOL I'm hooked! Mike

On a serious note (sorry won't last long).

When in love with such a hobby, all you need is an interest in a certain area of it and you become hooked. (That interest can be design, value for money, history etc.)

As I am becoming hooked on older british coins.

You guys have got to blame people like me for that. I'm sure Stujoe will testify when I say that when I first appeared on Coinpeople it was a US coin forum... these days it's a Darkside stronghold! :D

I think that's a matter of choice KLD.
some focus on only one point, value, country, period, as you said.
Oor, some (say, us:) like to see everything that exists.
Both have their own fun:)

I am NOT hooked on anything, as long as I get my coin a day, I am just fine! Got an Australian 2006 commemorative $1 today! Tomorrow is Sunday (no mail) so I will probably go into withdrawal or have some sort of "coin" attack before Monday!
At this time I am REALLY dreaming about RenaL's avatar as arrangements have been made to bring one to Indiana!!! Can't wait on that one!

Rick I am starting to get hooked on British coins from 1100 to 1600. The history and design are my key attractions.

I must say I like the british and our florins aswell, especially the older ones.

Eeeexxcellent, my work here is done.

Well I can cater for the 1100-1400 period. My interest declines as the 15th century turns into the 16th. Although I have owned some Tudor coins in the past, notably an Elizabeth I sixpence and a Mary Groat.
