I have submitted some of my more major varieties to NGC last year. Now I'm trying ANACS. What's really appealing to me is the number of references that ANACS recognizes. They don't just pick and choose varieties like NGC and PCGS, they recognize all of VarietyVista, Wexler, and even Cuds-On-Coins. And, according to my emails with ANACS, if you discover a new variety and have it authenticated by any of the sites I mentioned before, ANACS will label it "First Discovery" as long as you include documentation with your submission. I like the idea of having my more major discoveries being graded by a TPG and be labeled that they are the discovery piece. So with the Fall Frenzy sale I decided to submit two coins to try out the "First Discovery" label and to finally get a handful of mid-high value varieties slabbed. My submission was 11 error and variety coins. 1. 1857 1c CU-1c-1857-01R http://goccf.com/t/3536512. 1858 1c FS-101 S2 http://goccf.com/t/3550103. 1975 1c FIRST DISCOVERY CU-1c-1975-11 See profile pic http://goccf.com/t/2742164. 1983 1c FS-801 DDR-001 http://goccf.com/t/2908385. 1994 1c Rotated Dies (Trade with E&V) http://goccf.com/t/3448076. 1995 1c FS-101 DDO-001 I don't think I posted this one on CCF High grade ebay buy for about $15, hopefully gets MS65. 7. 1918 5c FS-801 DDR-001 http://goccf.com/t/3194138. 1920-D 5c FS-401 Two Feathers http://goccf.com/t/3496939. 1914-D 10c FIRST DISCOVERY RCD-10c-1914D-01R http://goccf.com/t/35238210. 1953-D/S 25c FS-601 OMM-001 http://goccf.com/t/31278711. 1971-D 25c FS-801 DDR-001 Again don't know why I didn't post this one here. Awesome! I think the 1971-D FS-801 is my favorite of the lot. I plan on a submission next year. I cherrypicked an 1867/67 Snow-1 Indian cent 2 days ago. It's in FR02 shape, but I'll slab it anyways. Again, awesome picks! :) -CH27

Good luck! Looking forward to the results! f I had to venture a guess on what that 1994 Rotated Die will grade, maybe AU-56? Let me know what grade that one got!

Congrats on the submission.
I agree with you on ANACS. I think you will enjoy the slabs as well. Because of the way they have the top edge of the slab curved, you can see the variety without taking it out of the box. Handy when trying to locate a particular variety without removing each slab to look at the face.

If you get "first discovery" on those I'll be envious. All of my stuff from ANACS comes back "discovery pc" which is less awesome but still descriptive. But yes, that is the company you want to work with for anything like that, as they do a great job of it. My last submission was to PCGS of some particularly good stuff, and 7 weeks later still don't have anything on them other than "grading them". I'm patient, but PCGS is expensive and takes forever.

Tanman I still think your experience with ANACS will be better than mine with PCGS. However, finally, PCGS has sent me an email of the grades for the coins I sent in almost two months ago, and I could not be happier. I will soon be in possession of slabbed coins 1944-D FS-101 MS-66 and 1949-S FS-101 MS-66. Some pretty strong additions to my DDO-001 collection. I do prefer ANACS for most things, but for registry grade coins gotta go with PCGS to get the best price whenever one wishes to sell it as that's the service those folks need for the registries.
