1972 D LMC Strange Indentions Near Rim

The area has strange indentation in a die dent by the rim. The edge shows no evidence of PSD altering the coin. Any insight is appreciated!

Yes, I know that it is a die dent. What I'm curious about is the unusual shape of it.

its a die dent like ENV said, if you want opinions on the shape of it you need to provide better pictures with more up close centering of the die dent.....

It's nearly impossible to guess what caused the dent. The shape I see doesn't lend itself to any obvious answer.
