Hi. I was just wondering about my own 3-digit '152-S' Wheat cent, and google led me here.
Even with a 3x magnification my eyes had trouble making out the fourth number; its very faint. My macro shots and some contrast left no doubt that it's a 2.
However, this one does not look chopped off or smashed.
It really doesn't look damaged at all.

Any thoughts?
And thanks for the dancing smilies!

@cc, first welcome to CCF. Second, while it is best practice to start a new thread with your new coin rather than tag onto someone else's thread, it isn't a big deal--we are glad that you found us.

With regard to your coin, it looks to me like perhaps a little grease was in the die when this coin was struck. That caused the number two to be struck up lightly.

Hi. Thanks for the input.
It seemed to me that people discussing a 1950's Wheat cent with a number missing, might be interested in seeing another one.
If mine had been 194- or some other decade, I wouldn't have bothered; but it was 195-, just like the topic.

So I was moved to a separate thread, and I start a new thread for every coin. If I know that someone else has a coin like mine, would I leave some kind of reference to mine, in their thread?
Just as a communal thing. I am experienced with forums - I wasnt blindly hijacking.
My apologies/

P.S. So the opinion on the missing # is grease on the blank, or in the die, caused this? If the grease could have ended up in any of the depressions; it certainly did a clean job here. Thanks.

Take a closer look at the 2? Note how the device looks larger? That is because the devices are tapered. When grease fills in the die, the narrow top of the device fills in, just allowing the base of the device to allow as small amount of coin metal to flow in that device area. When die polishing happens, the removal of the fields, also removes parts of the base of the devices. Making the devices smaller in size. So when you see a device smaller, it is die polishing. If the devices are wider, then it is a Grease Fill issue. Hope this helps.
