Found this quarter looking at my change after eating my empanadas from Cumberland Farms. Tried doing research on it and I thought this may be a good place to start. Any helpful information concerning this coin would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks for the input. I spent all night trying to figure out if this damage was possible during the minting process, ya'all figured it out in five minutes! Thanks again!

It is damage. Note how the reverse show bulges at the ends of the incuse areas.
