1964 Lincoln Penny Education Needed On Possiple Error Please

FirefighterA New Member United States 12 Posts	Posted 10/12/2019 7:59 pm So, I'm new to coin hunting and collecting. I know from research that the 1964 Lincoln can have a DDO and DDR. Anyways, I had one and I was looking under my microscope and noticed an interesting mark on it. I don't think its anything special, but I was hoping the community could help educate me on what it is. coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 10/13/2019 7:29 pm Note on this doubled die compared with your coin. 1. Note the devices are all enlarged. (Just not one device, but many) 2. Note the affected areas are contoured showing a spread on the devices and showing notches on the corners of the some of the devices. (your coin is showing a reduction of the normal size of the devices) 3. Even the EPU are affected on some devices. (Some doubled dies will show a stronger area and a weakening of the doubling because the hubbing of the die was a miss match. Too far right, left, rotated CCW, CW, distorted hubs, different hubs used like a newer one of an older one. So while they can vary per die, Machine Doubling can have a different area affected, per strike. So Machine Doubling is common. It happens right after the strike. Hub doubling will be consistent from strike to strike. But even doubled dies can be affected by Machine Doubling. So look for the devices to be enlarged, showing spread and to stop looking at the edges of the devices. Why? Because that is where you find Machine Doubling. Report this Post to the Staff
