I tried to do research but I couldn't find a SIMILAR sample.
I know this rear they had proofs but none has the s mint mark.
I thought ONLY SAN FRANCISCO made proof coins.
Also I think the SAN FRANCISCO mint WAS close from 1955-1968.
Your input please.

@iom, just to be clear, are you saying that this is a proof coin? And a D/S OMM? I'm just a little confused by your title and initial comments.

My apologies, I forgot to spell check.
I mean that they did produced proof 1963 Lincoln pennies but none have the s mint mark and I thought all proofs came from SAN FRANCISCO.
This has the obvious DENVER mint mark BUT it is over AN S . My pics are from my phone but I can clearly see the serif on the end of the S. Maybe was a low quality PROOF TURNED into a DENVER coin. Or part of the so called BLANKS with a weak S sent from SAN FRANCISCO mint while it was closed.

Ok thanks for the clarification @iom.

When I look at this mintmark using the pics that you have provided, I'm not seeing an underlying letter. I've rotated, enlarged, and enhanced one of your pics to show you what I mean. To the bottom left of the letter D there is a lighter area, but I can't say that this is the remnants of a previous mintmark without a better pic. On some of your other pics, it almost looks like a slight depression. I'm not saying that with the coin in hand it isn't clear as day to you, but rather whatever you are seeing just isn't coming through. Any chance of you adding a really good pic of that mintmark to this thread?

Also, I think that you are correct that there are no OMMs for 1963 cents. Here is a link to the varietyvista page on RPMs for '63-D:

Finally, one minor bit of internet etiquette, WHEN YOU TYPE WITH ALL CAPS IT IS CONSIDERED YELLING. There is no reason to yell here at CCF. Thanks!

I'm with Spence, especially about adding a clear image of the MM area.

In the 3rd image, the reflection of the light does appear to show a curved raised area coming off the bottom left of the MM. But without better images, I can't tell what it is. (Die scratch, stain, PSD, error, etc?)

The coins are struck at different mints. So all the coins struck at that mint, will have the same mintmark. (usually) There have been a few cases of over mintmarks. But a limited few. 1963 was not one of these years. Your is a normal 1963-D. Looks like a wave on the dies field. Not sure why, but it is not a D/S. Note the area in question only shows on one image. If it were a RPM/OM then it would show from all angles. It might be a start of a die crack that hasn't developed yet. (that would be a die event, not a die variety.
